30 minutes from Cabo is another great Mexican vibe..San Jose del Cabo!

San Jose del Cabo is a charming coastal city located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. The city has a rich history dating back to the 1700s, when it was founded as a mission by Spanish Jesuits. Today, San Jose del Cabo is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning beaches, vibrant cultural scene, and vibrant nightlife.

Tourists visiting San Jose del Cabo can explore its historic downtown, which is home to well-preserved colonial architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and a variety of restaurants, shops, and bars. The downtown area is also home to the city's main square, the Plaza Mijares, which is a great place to relax and people-watch.

One of the city's most popular attractions is the San Jose del Cabo Art District, which is home to a number of galleries, studios, and cultural institutions. The district is a great place to see local artists at work, and to purchase unique pieces of art and crafts.  REMEMBER, if you’re going to San Jose del Cabo, there is an Art Walk that takes place on Thursday nights.  The Thursday evening Art Walk is one of highlights of any visit to San José del Cabo, running weekly from 5 to 9 p.m. during high tourist season (November through June). Sip wine, sample cheese, wander the area's beautiful cobblestone streets, and interact with some of the top artists and gallery owners in Baja California Sur. Of course, most paintings, sculptures and the like are for sale to those with a discerning eye or an interest in regional art, but it should be noted that this event can also be enjoyed at no cost whatsoever. And the pleasures of Art Walk extend beyond the boundaries of the Gallery District. The historic church is close by, as is Plaza Mijares, the town square, and City Hall, with its historic clock tower and colorful interior murals that trace the history of México.

When it comes to outdoor activities, San Jose del Cabo has plenty to offer. The city is located on the coast, which means there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and other water sports. There are also several local golf courses, including the famous Cabo Real Golf Course, which is home to some of the best golfing in Mexico.

There are several other attractions and activities worth mentioning when visiting San Jose del Cabo. These include:

  1. Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park - A protected marine park located about 45 minutes north of San Jose del Cabo, it is a great place for snorkeling and diving, and is known for its abundant marine life, including colorful fish, sea turtles, and even whales.

  2. Costa Azul Beach - A popular surfing spot located just a few miles from downtown San Jose del Cabo, Costa Azul is a great place to catch some waves and enjoy the scenery.

  3. Todos Santos - A small town located about an hour's drive from San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos is known for its bohemian vibe and is a great place to explore local art and culture.  This is north and past Cabo San Lucas.

  4. Los Cabos Corridor - A scenic 20-mile stretch of highway connecting San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas, the Corridor is home to some of the area's most beautiful beaches and is a popular destination for tourists.

San Jose del Cabo can be a day trip from Cabo San Lucas and something we would recommend.  If you’d like to stay the night there, San Jose del Cabo has a wide range of hotels and resorts to choose from, catering to different budgets and preferences. Some of the most popular and highly rated options include:

A note of caution, some tourists are lured there by a hotel called “Hotel California”.  It is not, however, related to the famous song of the same name by the Eagles. The Hotel California in San Jose del Cabo is a small, boutique hotel located in the heart of the city. It offers a variety of rooms and suites, as well as a pool, restaurant, and bar. The hotel is known for its Mexican colonial-style architecture and decor, as well as its friendly staff and convenient location. If you're looking for a place to stay in San Jose del Cabo, the Hotel California is a great option to consider.  Just don’t get your hopes up for “pink champagne on ice”!
